Richard Petty (born on July 2, 1937), was an American stock-vehicle racer who was the best driver throughout the entire existence of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Richard joined NASCAR as a driver in 1958, and in 1959 he collected nine top-10 gets done and was named Rookie of the Year.
